About jfc cares
JFC Cares is the social responsibility arm of Jollibee Foods Corporation, the parent company of Mang Inasal. Through JFC Cares, the corporation funds livelihood programs, educational scholarships, and community development initiatives across the Philippines. The program runs across all JFC brands, meaning every Mang Inasal order contributes to a wider network of community investment. For a brand that started in a mid-sized Visayas city, that reach represents something beyond fast food.
Seven years in, Jollibee Foods Corporation saw what the brand had built and acquired a majority stake for ₱3 billion. That was 2010. JFC brought the financial weight to turn a regional favorite into a national chain. Today, there are over 570 branches from Luzon down to Mindanao. The Visayas region, where it all started, still carries some of the densest branch coverage in the entire network.
Mang Inasal was not built in a boardroom. Edgar “Injap” Sia II opened the first branch in Iloilo City in 2003, at 26, with a straightforward pitch: authentic Filipino charcoal-grilled chicken at prices every Filipino could afford. The word “inasal” is Hiligaynon for grilled meat. The menu matched the name from day one.
The Mang Inasal logo carries all of this history in one image. A silhouette of a Filipino man wearing a salakot, the traditional wide-brimmed farm hat, set against the brand’s red and yellow colors. Red for the heat of the grill. Yellow for the golden Java rice and the achuete oil that defines every meal. The logo has stayed consistent through the JFC acquisition and every expansion since. It is one of the most recognized fast food logos in the Philippines.
